Dumfries House was saved from sale and the dissolution of its contents in 2007 by the dramatic intervention of HRH Prince Charles. His particular concern was the priceless collection of Chippindale furniture and other items in the house but the entire 2000 acres estate was also purchased and became a property of the Prince’s Foundation, thus opening many opportunities for development and innovation.
The Tarras Valley largely lies to the east and north of Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway; the Tarras Water flows into the River Esk just south of Langholm.
Scotia Agricultural Club 52nd AGM was hosted by SRUC Edinburgh on 18th November 2023. The talk accompanying the AGM was titled “Solutions to rural poverty in Scotland?” and was given by Polly Chapman, CEO, Impact Hub Inverness
